WHAT IS SCUBA
Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus
SCUBA is truly an adventure that takes you to another world underwater. Whether you want to dive locally or you plan to travel to exotic locations, I can provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to begin or continue your diving experience.
This is what gives you the diver the ability to move freely underwater while breathing normal. The skills you learn will help you expand your abilities and enjoyment of diving.

Learn to SCUBA
The following list shows the PADI classes offered, from an introduction to diving (Discover SCUBA) to the basic certification (Open Water) and beyond. For more details, please request more information!
Adult Scuba Lessons:
Discover SCUBA: The perfect way to try breathing underwater is in a controlled pool environment with a professional instructor. Even better, your discovery dive will count as your first pool dive in the Open Water course, when you choose to continue your training.
Open Water: Your aquatic adventure starts here! This program is the starting point in your dive education, and consists of three sections:
- Classroom instruction and knowledge test.
- Pool dives put the skills into practice and allow you to refine skills.
- Open Water dives at a local dive destination. This certification allows you to dive up to 60 feet.
- Class and pool time can be scheduled to accommodate your availability.
SCUBA Refresher: A Refresher class is for divers who want to tune up their skills or just need a little help getting back into the flow of things. This class includes a knowledge review, followed by an equipment and skills review in the pool. (Recommended for certified divers who have not logged a dive in the past six months to a year.)
Advanced Open Water: Take the next step in the adventure. You will select five specialties to explore. They will count toward the first dive of that specialty. Choose from the following:
Deep Diver | Night Diver | Search and Recovery |
Underwater Navigator | Underwater Photographer | Peak Performance Buoyancy |
Youth Scuba Lessons: ages 10-18
PADI offers several courses for children, ranging in age from 10-18. For more details, please request additional information through the “Contact” form.
SCUBA Specialty Certification
Specialties: These are focused on particular skills used to enhance your diving adventure and experience. Earn a Specialty certification in the following fields:

Dry Suit Diver | Ice Diver | Multi-Level Diver |
Night Diver Wreck Diver | Search and Recovery | Full Face Mask |
Underwater Navigator | Underwater Photographer | Underwater Naturalist |

Rescue Diver: A Rescue Diver certification helps you prevent problems before they happen, or manage problems if they occur. You will be able to recognize key factors, properly plan and assist a diver in a time of need.
Master Scuba Diver: The “bragging rights” of non-professional scuba divers! Requires Open Water, Advanced, Rescue Diver, five specialties, and 50 logged dives.
Divemaster: The first step to be coming a PRO. You will work on every aspect of diving, from logistically planning a dive to logging every detail. You will work with instructors to build your teaching skills, familiarize yourself with a variety of equipment and expand your diving knowledge.

OUR ACCREDITATIONS
NASE/WASI was the first organization to certify me as an instructor. I certifiy individuals as well as groups, including many teenagers involved in youth programs.
I earned my PADI instructorship in 2010 and am currently certified to teach a variety of classes, from the basic open water, to Divemaster. In addition, I am also certified as an Emergency/First Responder instructor. I am a firm believer in continuing education, and I’m working to increase my specialties over time.
I am PADI-PRO insured, and a member of the Diver’s Alert Network.
EXPERIENCE
Recreational diving has been my passion for more than 21 years. My diving experiences include locations in the US and around the world, including the Carolinas, Florida, California, Ohio, Mexico, Guam, and Japan. Drift diving is one of my favorites, and Southeast Michigan offers excellent opportunities to experience the thrill of riding the current!
